Make up your mind, Girl !

by Matilda on 02.01.07 at 01:16 PM See more in Life

Today I’m thinking I don’t want to move.  At least not until Coco, if not Hanna as well, is gone.

Portfolio 2007-01 +3.65%

by Matilda on 01.31.07 at 01:07 PM See more in Money

Stock portfolio is up 3.65% in just two weeks.  Yes, I’m well aware it can’t/won’t continue, but it’s the boost of confidence I need right now.  FWIW:  Information by the Motley Fool, intuition by Me.

Mom:  I went to church on a Monday.

by Matilda on 01.30.07 at 10:40 AM See more in

Last night we went to Organ Virtuoso Cameron Carpenter’s performance at Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi.  I found the performance interesting, but couldn’t quite wrap my brain around it being music.  My piano teacher will attest to the fact my taste in music is very traditional and I must admit I was finding the performance a tad long and was getting fidgety.  Cameron Carpenter’s piano encore made it all worth while!

I have my cake, but I’m not eating it.

I think Mr.B enjoyed getting to know my friend GJ over dinner last night.  I won’t be sharing the banana orange layer cake recipe.  That was a lot of work with a marginal result.  Though the Guys were a good sport about it last night.  The frosting was way too runny and even though I thought I fixed that problem, the resulting frosting was so slippery the top layer kept sliding off the bottom.

Busy!  Busy!  Busy!

by Matilda on 01.27.07 at 10:04 PM See more in Life

I worked for a while today.  On my way home I stopped at the grocery store for the first time since I can’t remember when.  I made two pans of lasagna, eight loaves of banana bread and two banana orange layer cakes while Mr.B made the salad and planted more future salad makings.  A productive day!  It needed to be as tomorrow will be busy with church in the morning, Steinway Artist Larry Dalton’s concert benefiting the Smile Network in the afternoon and we’ve got guests coming for dinner.

The Universe Delivers Yet Again

by Matilda on 01.27.07 at 04:35 PM See more in Life

I am blessed!  There are three women I’ve been thinking about a lot lately, one of them I’ve had no contact with for years, another just under a year and the last I’ve not seen at the gym since before the holidays.  I went so far as to rejoin the Knitters’ Guild as that’s where I originally met the first one.  Last evening I received an email from Shelley; seems I’ve been on her mind as well.  We spent hours on the phone this afternoon and will spend Wednesday evening over our knitting and coffee.  While I was never really close to the second woman, she’s been on my mind too often to ignore.  I have to respect that “someone” is trying to tell me something and I will call her this week.  I called Terri yesterday to learn she’s fine and she’s been to the gym just not at the usual day/time.  I caught her with her husband enjoying the beach in Florida and we have plans to get together when she returns.

Six Principles

by Matilda on 01.25.07 at 06:55 PM See more in Quotes

Gratitude gives way to simplicity.  Simplicity brings with it order.  Order brings harmony.  Harmony brings the inner peace we need to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us each day.  Beauty opens us to Joy.  From “Simple Abundance - A Daybook of Comfort and Joy” by Sarah Ban Breathnach.

Happy! Happy! Happy!

by Matilda on 01.22.07 at 05:43 PM See more in Life

The Hope Chest for Breast Cancer was happy to come and pick up my dining room chairs.  I’m even happier to have them gone - I never did like those blasted things!  On another happy note:  My Lawyer postponed this afternoon’s appointment until next week.

Knitting Group

I’ve missed belonging to a casual knitting group.  In an effort towards socialization, I’ve been trying to find a group or class, but have been unable to fine one who’s location or time suits my schedule.  I’ve decided to start my own using Meetup . . . .  Wish me luck!

Nightmares

by Matilda on 01.20.07 at 10:35 AM See more in Life

Avery spent the night.  The first words out of her mouth upon waking; “Cottage Cheese All Gone!”.  Oh, the horror!  That explains her crying in her sleep.  I assured her this morning, we have plenty of cottage cheese and even went so far as to show her the two cartons in my refrigerator.
